Our Community

The City of Zachary offers the convenience of a metropolitan area with all the charm of small city living.  This growing community topped the list this year among Louisiana cities with the highest annual household estimated income of $77,299. With education a top priority, the Zachary Independent School District has been ranked first in the state since 2005. With youth in mind, a popular attraction for residents is the city-operated Zachary Youth Park Complex, offering programs year-round for youth and adults of all ages.

Retail business is growing, and a “Buy Zachary First Initiative” was instituted to provide for the expansion of Zachary’s infrastructure, encouraging business and economic development. As you ride around Zachary, you will notice new business owners remodeling, renovating, and rehabilitating some of the cities’ older buildings.

The city has a well trained and equipped Police Department and Fire Department.  Zachary is noted for its low crime and attributes this to the extra training and community policing of its police force. In 2020, the City of Zachary announced that the Zachary Fire Department earned a Class 1 rating from the Property Insurance Association of Louisiana. Zachary joins ten cities in the State of Louisiana with this highest classification. In 2021, Zachary opened Station #83, which now serves as one of four for the City of Zachary. The newly staffed firehouse allows quicker response time for fires and medical emergencies on the east side of the city.

Zachary continues to be one of the fastest growing small cities in Louisiana offering an affordable, comfortable, and secure lifestyle. It is truly a great place to work, raise your family and call home.
